Let's all assume ownership of Feel the Teal

A new semester and a new year of opportunity for service excellence are upon us at Coastal Carolina University. The Feel the Teal Service Excellence Initiative continues to be about delivering the best academic and university experience through the creation of meaningful connections. It is about faculty. It is about staff. It is about everyone who interacts with anyone at CCU.

The next phase of the initiative is about everyone at CCU assuming ownership of this service initiative and applying the service training within their individual departments and roles at CCU. The 60-member Feel the Teal Leadership Team focused on the theme of universal ownership at our action planning retreat last month. We identified ideas that could be implemented on a macro level at the university, as well as ideas that could be put in place within micro levels through individual departments and colleges. We focused on the five key elements of the initiative -- leadership, training and development, collaboration and support, communications and evaluation/measurement. The compiled list from our brainstorming session will be shared with department leaders over the next month.

I am asking the Leadership Team to make sure that the list of ideas is shared and discussed within each department. I ask everyone to contribute by either sharing new ideas or adopting ideas from the list so that we can continue to grow and improve as a university. Together we will create more “feel the teal” moments that positively enhance the university experience, create unique connections and positively impact retention efforts. We must all assume ownership of this initiative in order to see continued results -- and we are seeing positive results from Feel the Teal!

Thank you for providing service excellence in your area of expertise and for continuing to look for new and innovative ways for others to Feel the Teal this semester!

Sincerely,
David A. DeCenzo, Ph. D.
President
