Faculty, students headed to AsiaNetwork Conference

On April 10, Yelena Ninichuk (senior, English) and Victoria Poston (senior, history) will participate in a poster session at the 18th Annual ASIANetwork Conference, whose theme this year is "Imagining Asia."

The students will share their research outcomes from a 2009-2010 ASIANetwork collaborative student-faculty research grant that involved four weeks of research conducted in Japan in May and June 2009. The grant is
sponsored by the Freeman Foundation. With Mikkenna Woods (politics, Class of 2009) and English profssor Maggie Ivanova, Tori and Yelena collaborated on a project entitled "Kansai and Kyushu: Roots and
Routes of China-Korea-Japan Interconnections." The three students and their faculty mentor examined historical, cultural, spiritual and political relationships in Northeast Asia since the 6th century CE.
