Math faculty, students attend conference

A contingent of Coastal Carolina University math professors and undergraduate math majors attended the annual Southeastern Sectional Conference of the Mathematical Association of America recently. This year's event was held at Elon University in Elon, N.C., on March 26 and 27.

Professors Keshav Jagannathan and James Solazzo each gave presentations at the conference as did undergraduate student Kyle Rollins. For his efforts, Rollins won an award for the best presentation by an undergraduate in his group. He was awarded a check for $100. Rollins was mentored by math professor Andrew Incognito.

Two undergraduate students, Melanie Vining and Jerry McCormick, gave poster presentations at the conference. Finally, Rollins, Vining and McCormick teamed with fellow math major Lauren Tomlinson to compete in the conference's Math Jeopardy Contest. The team was mentored by Incognito.
