Feel the Teal: It’s a TEAL-tastic time to be at CCU!

When you walk around this amazing campus, you are sure to Feel the Teal.

Many employees have settled into new offices or work areas for the semester; you can feel the teal when people reflect on the moving process and their co-workers who helped along the way.

Brianne Parker, director of Learning Assistance Centers, was part of the move from Prince to Kearns. “The entire ITS staff worked so hard to make sure our centers had working computers for the students,” said Parker. “They worked tirelessly for long hours and in a lot of heat!” ITS staff members provided service excellence for their internal customers at all touch points, and I personally would like to offer special thanks to everyone in ITS and, specifically, to Gene Carlisle, Jesse Gaither, Denny French, Joe Minter and Rosemary Browne.

You could also feel the teal at our first home football game on Saturday, Sept. 13, when you looked over to a full student section in Brooks Stadium! CCU students, alumni, employees and the community came together to collectively cheer for the Chants. One of our employees, Brent Reser, coordinator of social media, showed both a giving and creative approach to a soldout game.

Reser gave away his season tickets by way of a Twitter contest on the afternoon of the game and created quite the buzz. After retweeting the @CCUChanticleers tweet to her followers, CCU student Marissa Reusch responded to Reser that she didn’t have tickets but that she did have a father who was only in town for the weekend before he would fly back out to Kuwait. She wanted to take her dad, Daryl Reusch, to the game that night to show him what Coastal is all about. Reser delivered the tickets in person and snapped a photo of daughter and dad.

Are you feeling the teal yet?

Teal Tuesdays are in full swing this semester and you can SEE and FEEL the teal everywhere. Our students, faculty and staff are wearing more teal than in recent years. I hope you can understand the enormous pride I feel as a president of the University when I see our campus showcasing the school colors of teal and bronze in the classroom, on the field and around the local community.

Feel the Teal is about positively contributing to our service-focused culture here at CCU and celebrating those who help move our university in that direction. From helping fellow co-workers and thinking outside the box, to wearing teal on Tuesdays – our CCU community shows what it means to Feel the Teal every day. Our current success is due in part to those who consistently provide quality experiences on behalf of CCU. Coastal Carolina University is a great place to be, and thank you to everyone who helps make this university “teal-tastic!”

Sincerely,

David A. DeCenzo, Ph.D.
President
