Thompsons recognized for donation and spirit

Marjorie and Lance Thompson and their daughter, Savannah, 18, were honored on the football field during the CCU-Elon game on Sept. 27.

The family was recognized for a contribution to the baseball/softball complex project, and Savannah was recognized for the award she received last spring at the Athletic Banquet. The award is now known as the Savannah Thompson Humanitarian Award.

The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) nominated Savannah Thompson for the Community Service Award presented at the 2014 Student-Athlete Excellence Awards. Because of her involvement with the student-athletes and commitment to the Chants, the award was renamed the Savannah Thompson Humanitarian Award in her honor.

“Savannah embodies what it means to be a Chant for Life as she is a true inspiration to all,” said Cari Rosiek, associate athletic director. “Her ability to make a difference has a positive impact on the student-athletes, administrators and coaching staffs. We are grateful to Savannah and her family for their generous support.”
