Treasure Hunt makes for student fun

Jennifer Sellers, sustainability coordinator, reports that the first CCU Treasure Hunt, held on Oct. 22 as a part of the Homecoming festivities, was a big hit.

The 10 participating teams hunted for 54 items on a list and posted their finds via social media between noon and 6 p.m. The items/activities were located all over campus and included everything from hugging a tree to learning when the home basketball games are scheduled.

“The idea behind this Treasure Hunt was to not only have fun, but to familiarize our students with Coastal a little bit more,” said Sellers. “I think Coastal has a lot of hidden historic and unique treasures, and this inspired more school spirit.”

Each item was worth a number of points, based on specific criteria. There were five actual treasures hidden in locations on campus, which included treasures such as a catered pizza party from Pie By Night, 10 Sustain Coastal T-shirts for the team and a catered bagel breakfast from Einstein’s.

Eaglin Community Council won most of those treasures.

Teams that competed were able to collect as many points as possible to be added to their overall Homecoming participation total.

Here are the results:
Gamma Phi Beta = 301
