Official CCU holiday season begins with tree lighting

By Casey Roach, Special Events

Coastal Carolina University hosted its annual Holiday Lighting on Tuesday, Dec. 2, at James P. Blanton Park.

It was an evening of festive lights, holiday music and seasonal food as the CCU family celebrated the beginning of the holiday season.

The Coastal Carolina Inspirational Ambassadors Gospel Choir, under the direction of David Manigo, performed three holiday songs – “Emmanuel,” “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “This Christmas.”

CCU President David DeCenzo invited guests to gather around the stage to ring in the season with the lighting of the tree and park. After the magical illumination of the park, Santa made his entrance aboard the Carolina Choo-choo Train.

Children participated in several festive activities including writing letters to Santa, creating stockings and ornaments, decorating gingerbread cookies, posing with seasonal props at the photo booth, visiting with Santa and riding the Carolina Choo-choo around the park.
