Feel the Teal 2015: The vision is still on service excellence

As a new year begins, I am encouraged by the progress made thus far through the Feel the Teal initiative, and I look forward to creating additional unique connections and positive experiences for our students, faculty, staff and alumni. We are dedicated to building and sustaining a strong sense of community and culture here at CCU. Key to accomplishing this mission is providing the infrastructure and service training needed to ensure a productive, supportive and educational work environment.

Feel the Teal development sessions will continue to be offered to all staff, faculty, student workers and employees of Coastal Carolina University. Two new training modules were recently added – Module 5, “Assisting with Difficult Situations,” and Module 6, “Personal Accountability.” To date, 108 employees have been coached in “Assisting with Difficult Situations,” and 67 employees have participated in the “Personal Accountability” professional enrichment forum. Please sign up for and attend the new Feel the Teal offerings to ensure that you stay current with the service trainings expected of all employees and ambassadors of Coastal Carolina University.

The Feel the Teal Leadership Team and Steering Committee will continue to meet and address service issues and concerns that affect our community. At this time, however, the priority is evaluation of the results of the Feel the Teal initiative. There is an expression -- “You can’t expect what you don’t inspect” –- that certainly applies to Feel the Teal. The Leadership Team and Steering Committee will be measuring and assessing the data in order to gauge the effectiveness of our distinctive service initiative.

I foresee continued success with Feel the Teal in 2015, and I am proud to see us leading the way in improving customer service and promoting student success.

Have a Happy Teal-Tastic New Year!

Sincerely,

David A. DeCenzo, Ph.D.
President
