Class cleans up campus

Health Promotion 121 students took part in a campus clean-up at the Campus Walk Bridge on April 10. The students participated in the clean-up for Earth Month, which was a perfect fit for their current course focus on environmental health.

Course Instructor Layne Flynn worked with the CCU Office of Sustainability and the Eco-Rep Leaders to coordinate the clean-up. The class collected five small bins of trash and recyclables, which equated to about 10 pounds of trash and about five pounds of recyclables. Most of the items collected included cigarette butts, cans, papers, bottles and a few bulk items such as a chair and baking tins. The clean-up was done bagless, so that extra trash was not created as part of the activity.

This clean-up was part of the Earth Month activities that are offered by CCU throughout the month of April. Students also took part in the CCU Earth Fair on April 22 on Prince Lawn.
