Third Place for the Rowing Roosters of CCU

Nearly 1,200 people participated in the seventh annual Dragon Boat Festival races at Market Common on April 25. The event benefits Ground Zero, a Christian youth ministry in Myrtle Beach.

Among the participants was an energetic, competitive team of CCU employees and CCU alumni called the “Rowing Roosters of CCU.” The team won third place in the mixed division, and its best time of the day was 56:77.

Team members were: Jennifer Sellers, sustainability coordinator, co-captain of the team, CCU alumna; Karen Fletcher, pre-award services manager, research, co-captain of the team, CCU alumna; Tammy Blouse, dispatcher; David Klauder, law enforcement officer; Jeremy Monday, waste reduction coordinator, CCU alum; Daniel Rabon, accountant/fiscal analyst, CCU alum; Daniel Todd, law enforcement officer, CCU alum; Rodney Sarvis, investigator, law enforcement officer; Dee Braswell, administrative operations manager; Brianne Parker, director of the Learning Assistance Centers; Allie Jeffords, CCU alumna.

Money raised at the event will be used to help fund Ground Zero’s high-quality events, relevant school assembly speakers and a cutting-edge venue that provides unparalleled entertainment in a safe environment. For more information, visit http://www.mygroundzero.com/.
