Jim Arendt show closes at Belmont

Coastal Carolina Univeristy art gallery director Jim Arendt exhibited his work at the Leu Art Gallery at Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn.

“Those of Us Still Living” featured a series of life-size 2-D portraits composed of recycled denim, described as “at once visceral, violent and vulnerable.”

Arendt, who is an assistant professor of art at CCU, uses portraiture to investigate the stories and the lives of working people whom he knows personally. The work explores how individual lives are affected by changes in economic structures.
