Feel the Teal: New semester, new opportunities

Students are anticipating a new semester of learning and experiences. Freshmen may need additional support and encouragement, while seniors may need assistance navigating our departmental moves that occurred over the summer. We must provide our students with the resources, appropriate information and service excellence that yield student success and satisfaction. Let’s continue to work together to develop students who are both knowledgeable in their chosen fields and prepared to be productive, responsible, healthy citizens with a global perspective.

Families are visiting our campus to drop their students off and entrust them to our care. Opening Move-In Day for all first-year students is Friday, Aug. 14, and returning students will check in on Saturday, Aug. 15. Let’s be sure to welcome all students, families and visitors in a manner that offers them reassurance that they made the right choice to be a part of Coastal Carolina University.

New faculty and staff are joining the Chanticleer family this fall, and for some, this will be a time of adjustment. Wearing your nametag on a consistent basis will allow new employees to recognize and get to know fellow employees. Let’s be sure to offer assistance to use the 5 foot-10 foot rule to make people feel welcome and a part of the CCU community.

A new semester and a new year of opportunity for service excellence is imminent at Coastal Carolina University. I encourage all faculty and staff members to take advantage of each and every opportunity to make a Feel the Teal connection with our customers. Feel the Teal is a call to action for service excellence, an attitude, an inspired heart and mind, a champion spirit. It is my hope that as our families, students, faculty and staff return to campus, they will feel a sense of inclusion and experience the energy and enthusiasm that make them feel they are a valuable member Teal Nation.

Sincerely,

David A. DeCenzo, Ph.D.
President
