Albergotti wins Pushcart Prize

Dan Albergotti’s poem “Holy Night” has been selected for a prize and reprinted in Pushcart Prize XL: Best of the Small Presses. The poem was originally published in Crab Orchard Review and was subsequently included in Millennial Teeth, Albergotti’s latest poetry collection published by Southern Illinois University Press in August 2014.

The Pushcart Prize anthology has been published annually since 1976 with the goal to honor the best poems, short stories, and essays published in the small presses over the previous year. It has been called “the most honored literary project in America.” For this year’s fortieth annual edition, the editors received nominations from over 1,500 small presses and literary journals, and over 8,000 individual works were considered. “Holy Night” is one of 32 poems selected for inclusion.

This is Albergotti’s second Pushcart Prize. His poem “What They’re Doing” was included in the 2009 edition.
