Registration is now open for the sixth Women’s Leadership Conference and Celebration of Inspiring Women set for Wednesday, Feb. 10, and Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016, at the Sheraton Myrtle Beach Convention Center Hotel in Myrtle Beach. To register, visit coastal.edu/women/conferenceandcelebration.

The Women’s Leadership Conference seeks to educate, motivate and challenge women to lead change in their own lives, their communities and the world. The 2016 program builds upon five previous successful events and features notable speakers from the fields of business, entertainment, media and more. The annual conference and celebration is a signature event of Women in Philanthropy and Leadership for Coastal Carolina University.

The 2016 speaker roster includes the following women (additional speakers will be announced on the conference and celebration website):

• Alice Domar, Ph.D., pioneer and expert in the application of mind/body medicine to women’s health issues

• Polly Letofsky, inspirational author and speaker who will recap her 14,000-mile walk across four continents and 22 countries

• Barbara McAllister, director of Global Strategic Initiatives, Intel Corporation

• Leann J. Mischel, current CCU professor and former vice president of JPMorgan Chase and Priceline.com

• Jessica Odede, co-founder and COO of Shining Hope for Communities, an organization that combats extreme poverty and gender inequality in Kenya

• Tenoyah Parris, television, film and Broadway actor, known for her role as Dawn Chambers on AMC's “Mad Men”

• Sarah Thomas, the first woman to be hired as a full-time game official in the history of the National Football League

The Celebration of Inspiring Women, to be held the evening of Feb. 11, will honor remarkable individuals and celebrate their contributions to our state, region, nation and world. The Celebration of Inspiring Women awards were created as an important and lasting way to recognize the incredible achievements of women who are from South Carolina or have made the state their home. Since the program’s inception in 2011, 30 women have been recognized, including Gloria Gaynor in 2015 and Wendi Nix in 2014.
