Athletics plans to expand Brooks Stadium

Plans are moving forward to expand Brooks Stadium at a cost not to exceed $38 million. The expansion is being planned in response to the recent announcement that CCU’s athletic programs will join the Sun Belt Conference, effective July 1, 2016.

The design, by Stubbs Muldrow Herin Architects partnered with Heery International, will increase the seating capacity at Brooks Stadium to meet NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) requirements.

Better entrances and exits, more concession stands and additional seats will be added to the stadium. The expansion plan will also include more restrooms, more amenities and will improve how people are shuttled to the stadium from parking lots.

The expansion of the football stadium is part of Coastal Carolina’s upcoming move to the Sun Belt Conference and its corresponding move from the NCAA’s second-tiered Football Championship Subdivision to the top-tiered Football Bowl Subdivision.
