Students, faculty recognized at Honors Convocation

Awards were presented to Coastal Carolina University students and faculty for outstanding academic achievement and recognition at the annual Honors Convocation held on May 5 in Wheelwright Auditorium.

Emily Forzono, a marine science major from Simsbury, Conn., received the Distinguished Student Award that recognizes a student with superior accomplishments in both academics and campus service. She is the 2016 Marine Science Student of the Year and has been on the President’s List or Dean’s List every semester during her time at CCU. She has done research at the Baruch Marine Field Laboratory in Georgetown and completed environmental internships at Dominion Millstone Power Station and Island Fisheries in Connecticut. Forzono intends to pursue a master’s degree in fisheries science.
