CCU student runner-up in international ethics contest

A Coastal Carolina University student was one of four runners-up for an international ethics competition sponsored by the International Ethics Standards Coalition (IESC).

Otabek Aynaev, a senior economics major, was the only student from the United States chosen as a winner in the IESC Ethics Competition, which was created by the coalition for the purpose of asking students and young professionals to help answer important questions about the role ethics plays in business and how ethics should shape the land, real estate, construction and infrastructure sectors in the future. Aynaev's entry into the competition was encouraged by Robert Salvino, associate director of the Grant Center for Real Estate and Economic Development at CCU.

Entries were received from students and young professionals from around the world, including the United States, Russia, Taiwan, Brazil, India, Ireland, Germany, the United Kingdom and Zimbabwe. The competition was judged by four trustees from the IESC who have extensive experience and knowledge in different real estate sectors. The criteria for the competition included an overall understanding of ethics in business, consideration of the future ethics of real estate, quality of communication, relevance and insight.

In his winning submission, Aynaev expresses his belief that real estate and its related fields help form the backbone of the business society and that adherence to ethical standards is vital to the real estate industry.
