Coastal Carolina Athletics donate to hurricane and flood relief

Coastal Carolina Athletics gave back to the community in its time of need after Hurricane Matthew and the flooding that followed.

In coordination with the Department of Athletics Hurricane Relief Drive last week, Coastal Carolina collected and donated 3,000 canned goods long with supplies such as toiletries and cleaning supplies. All donations were provided to Churches Assisting People (CAP) of Conway, which supplies those in need in our community with meals and monetary assistance. Due to Hurricane Matthew, many lost their entire food supply, which elevated the demand for support. CAP typically provides meals for 300 families on a weekly basis. However, due to the storm, they are currently averaging 100 families daily.

"On behalf of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, we are grateful to the community and the many student organizations that assisted us with our relief drive," said Coastal Carolina associate athletic director for student-athlete enhancement Cari Rosiek. "It is our hope to continue our efforts to heal those who have lost their homes, food and jobs during this difficult time."

Earlier this fall, Coastal Carolina athletics gathered large amounts of food and cleaning supplies to assist those in Louisiana who suffered significant flood damage.
