Tomczyk elected president for higher education group

Charmaine Tomczyk has been elected to serve as president-elect for the S.C. Women in Higher Education (SCWHE) executive board for 2010-2011.

Tomczyk, who is director for undergraduate research at CCU, will assume the presidency of SCWHE in June 2011. She previously served as secretary to the board for two years, chair of the Martha Kime Piper Award Committee and was institutional representative for CCU for several years.

As president, Tomczyk will work with the executive board and current president to offer SCWHE’s three annual statewide workshops for minority women. She will also work with the institutional representatives, the new and prospective chairs and directors as well as the annual conference. The 2011 conference theme will be “Creative Strategies for Career Progression” and will be held in Myrtle Beach.
