DeFuria named director of Postal Services

Nick DeFuria has been named director of Postal Services at Coastal Carolina University. DeFuria has been the mail supervisor at CCU for the past five years and was with the U.S. Postal Service for 33 years prior to joining the Coastal staff.

Defuria plans to focus on customer service and community involvement. “We are going to decorate for Halloween and have a disco theme and hang lights for Christmas,” says Defuria. “I plan to involve the students in a food drive and sending care packages to soldiers before Christmas break."

He is from New Jersey and has been married to his wife, Rosemary, for 38 years. They have three children: Dawn, Michael and Nicole, and five grandchildren ranging in age from 2 to 17. DeFuria is an animal lover and has two basset hounds, JR and Madison, a pug named Chloe and a cat called Little Man. In his spare time, he enjoys saltwater fishing, flyfishing and jet skiing.

The Mail Services area is responsible for receiving and delivering mail for some 3,300 residential students as well as all University departments, providing guidance and support to all University departments with respect to regular and bulk mailing guidelines, and the operation of a retail U.S. Postal Center that serves the local community.

Jim Mee retired from the Postal Services directorship on April 30 after more than 16 years.

The post office is located in Sands Hall.
