CeTEAL is busy for summer

CeTEAL is hosting its first Summer Book Club. Each Friday in June, we will meet to discuss chapters in the book, "Paying the Price: College Costs, Financial Aid, and the Betrayal of the American Dream," by Sara Goldrick-Rab. The book will be provided to the first 10 registrants who participate in the book club. Goldrick-Rab will join the discussion via Skype during one of our meetings.

For those working on research this summer, there are a couple of SPSS sessions in June. Chad Smith, assistant professor of kinesiology, will be leading these sessions. If you are interested in presenting a session through CeTEAL, contact Tracy Gaskin at tgaskin@coastal.edu.

CeTEAL is piloting several flexible Special Interest Groups (SIGs) for the 2017-18 academic year. The SIGs will bring faculty and staff together around common topics of interest to build community and increase collaboration across campus.

Some of the proposed topics are Defining the Signature Pedagogies of a Discipline; Mindfulness for Work Life Balance; Serious Games, Games Studies and Gamification; Defining the Inclusive Classroom; Early Career Faculty; Active Learning Working Group; and Demands of Being a Caregiver Roundtable. We welcome other ideas and suggestions for SIGs. If you are interested in more information, email Jenn Shinaberger (jshinabe@coastal.edu).
