Vu crowned Miss Teal and Bronze

Brooke Vu, a junior marine science major from Myrtle Beach, took home the title of Miss Teal and Bronze along with the Best Talent award during this year’s pageant. She has competed in previous pageants held at CCU.

“Twelve Phenomenal Women of the ’90s” was the theme of the first Miss Teal and Bronze Pageant, which was held at Coastal Carolina University on Monday, Oct. 23.

The pageant, formerly called the Miss Coastal Carolina University Pageant, has transitioned from being a preliminary pageant for the Miss South Carolina Scholarship Pageant, to a homecoming kickoff event sponsored by Coastal Activities Board (CAB).

After spending months practicing the opening dance, correcting walks and building friendships, the 12 contestants took to the Wheelwright Auditorium stage for their time to shine.

Yolanda Mullins, a senior communication major, coordinated the pageant. “I could not have asked for a greater group of ladies to work with,” she said. “They put so much time and hard work into Miss Teal and Bronze, which made it an even more rewarding experience for me.”
