Faculty and staff needed as student mentors
by Submitted
CINO Elevate is CCU’s mentorship program that is designed to pair faculty/staff members with junior-level students.
The program gives students an additional opportunity to meet and get to know other faculty and staff on campus; learn what it means to have a personal, yet professional, relationships; and allow students access to individuals who have “been there” and can possibly help them navigate issues they may be dealing with.
CINO Elevate also gives faculty and staff members the opportunity to meet students they might not otherwise have the opportunity to meet and make an impact on them during a pivotal year in the higher education process.
Any faculty or staff member can be a mentor. In previous years, we have had to cut off the number of interested students due to the number of mentors we had. In order to combat this, we are hoping to get a robust pool of interested members of faculty and staff so we can have as many interested juniors participate as possible.
Mentors meet with their student at least once a week for an hour or so. A handbook of items to talk about is provided, but this program is designed to be flexible to suit the student's needs.
Each student is hand-paired with a faculty/staff member based on what the student requests. This can include someone with the same outside interests, someone within their field, an individual who they can talk about their future with, etc. In your application, be as descriptive and detailed as possible so you can be paired with the student who is the best fit.
