About the Associate Director

Robert Salvino, Ph.D., is a research economist and the associate director of the Grant Center for Real Estate and Economic Development at Coastal Carolina University.

Salvino is an associate professor of economics and teaches courses in economics and entrepreneurship. His research interests concern the economic effects of policies on government performance, entrepreneurship and economic outcomes

As CCU's research economist, Salvino monitors economic activity at the local, state and national levels. He provides economic projections for the region and serves as a liaison between the business, government and academic communities. His applied research and consulting activities focus on economic policy, state and local economic development, and business development analysis.

Prior to his academic career, Salvino worked in Columbus, Ohio, as a geologist for a civil engineering firm and as a large loss property claims adjuster for Nationwide Insurance.

He earned a Ph.D. and a Master of Arts, both in economics, from Georgia State University in 2007 and 2004, respectively. He completed his undergraduate degree in geology at Marshall University in 1997.
