Coastal Carolina University announces grand opening of real estate center

Conway, SC - A ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the grand opening of the new location of the Grant Center for Real Estate and Economics will be held Monday, Dec. 3, 2018, in the E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration at Coastal Carolina University. The ceremony will be preceded by the 2nd annual CCU Real Estate Awards ceremony, which is scheduled for 5 p.m. in the Johnson Auditorium, Room 116. Both events are free and open to the public.
The grand opening will begin at 6 p.m. with remarks in the Johnson Auditorium, followed by the ceremonial ribbon cutting in front of the newly renovated office suite that now houses the Grant Center for Real Estate and Economics in Room 107 of the Wall College of Business building.
Remarks will be delivered by Barbara A. Ritter, Ph.D., dean of the E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration; David A. DeCenzo, Ph.D., president of Coastal Carolina University; Robert F. Salvino, Ph.D., director of the Grant Center for Real Estate and Economics and CCU professor of economics; and Anthony P. Grant, FRICS, the donor who has made the establishment, naming and opening of the center possible.
Representatives from the Conway, Myrtle Beach Area, North Myrtle Beach and Georgetown County Chambers of Commerce will support the center by standing with CCU representatives during the ribbon cutting.
Following the ribbon cutting, attendees will be invited to tour the center, with walk-through tours occurring at 15-minute intervals. A light cocktail reception, honoring both the nominees and winners of the Real Estate Awards and the Grant Center Grand Opening, will be held after the ribbon cutting in Room 222 of the Wall College of Business building.
The newly renovated Grant Center space features a custom-made mural installation and a commons area for students in the economics, finance, commercial and investment real estate and related departments at CCU. Work stations in the center will be equipped with relevant industry software, including ArcGIS and ARGUS A&E.
Additionally, the center will house a project lab that will function as a reserved working space for groups ranging in size from two to eight people, and will have a full-functioning screen with video-conferencing capabilities – a system that will be widely used for student interviews and consulting or research projects conducted by the Grant Scholars and Real Estate Club. This information hub will serve as a major resource for students and professionals interested in or already working in commercial real estate, allowing the real estate program at Coastal Carolina University to continuously grow and flourish.
About the donors
Tony Grant has spent a lifetime in the real estate profession. He grew up in the United Kingdom and founded Grant & Partners in London in 1965. In 1987, he moved to New York after being named president and CEO of London & Leeds Development Corp., the U.S. property subsidiary of Ladbroke Group PLC (later Hilton Hotels PLC). He had direct responsibility for a 4.7 million-square-foot office development program in Boston, New York, Washington, D.C. and Miami. He later returned to London to serve as board chairman and joint chief executive of Olives Property PLC. Grant's background includes serving as world president of FIABCI (the International Real Estate Federation) and chairman of the Americas region of Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
Carrie Grant, an artist and designer, earned both a bachelor's and master's degree in applied art and graphic design at the Academy of Applied Arts in Vienna, Austria. She has operated her own graphic design and advertising firm since the early 1970s.
The Grants moved to the Grand Strand area in 2003.
The grand opening will begin at 6 p.m. at Coastal Carolina University in Johnson Auditorium, Room 116 in the Wall College of Business building. Preceding the grand opening is the 2018 Real Estate Awards ceremony at 5 p.m. in the same location. The ceremony is free and open to the public.

The Grant Center for Real Estate and Economics serves students and professionals engaged in all facets of real estate and economic development and provides market analysis, study-based scholarships, networking opportunities, internships and technical study tours of international sites.
