Alex English
Name: Alex English
Hometown: North Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Year in School: Freshman
Major: Business Management
In most circumstances, when a student leaves the college he started at after his first year it is a sign that things didn’t go according to plan. However, for Alex English this couldn’t be less true. But more on that soon…
A freshman originally from Bozeman, Mt., Alex came to Coastal to study business management. A couple months into his first semester, he is amazed at how professors genuinely care for and how willing they are to interact with students. Alex says this attitude translates to the entire campus, specifically mentioning that Coastal is a place where people “will hold the door open for you.”
A born leader, Alex welcomes pressure and says that he tries to step up to the plate whenever needed. This willingness to guide others is evident in the classroom, his two off-campus jobs, and to his activities with the U.S. Army.
Here is where we pick up from the opening paragraph. Alex is currently part of the Army Reserves. However, his service to our country will take on another dimension next fall when he officially enrolls at the United States Military Academy. That’s right, Alex will become a West Point cadet in 2017. Although sad to see a student leader leave campus, the amount of pride our institution feels at seeing a Chant fulfil his goals at a major military academy such as West Point is immense. Best of luck to Alex!
