Anaiya Moore admits that when she arrived at Coastal for her campus tour she was going through the motions. She followed the tour guide and asked the typical questions but the connection wasn’t strong…yet. That all changed when her tour group started to cross Wall Bridge. Standing in the middle of the walkway, a strong feeling overwhelmed Anaiya. She best describes it as an epiphany, saying that she felt “destined to be here.” Remarking that Coastal felt like “home” at that moment, she enrolled.

That defining moment on Wall Bridge has led to other big moments during Anaiya’s first 15 months as a Chanticleer. Involved in numerous organizations from NAACP to SGA to the Jackson Scholars to Women of Color, she has established, so to speak, her own Coastal family. However, nothing characterizes and strengthens the roots of that CCU family more than her involvement as an orientation leader. Singling out her time as an “OL” as her highlight at Coastal so far, Anaiya speaks fondly of her fellow orientation leaders and the new students she has had the opportunity to have an impact on.

An ambitious young woman, Anaiya doesn’t back down from challenges and pushes herself to reach her potential. You won’t hear excuses coming out of her mouth.

“I have so many things I want to do in life and I never limit myself and say, ‘Oh, I can never do this,’” Anaiya says. “I know I can always work toward a goal and get there.”

Her big goal is to make a positive impact in society. A double major, Anaiya wants to make a splash in the business industry. But whether she goes to graduate school or starts a career right after her commencement in 2021, you can bet that she will follow the wisdom of Mahatma Gandhi and do her part to be the change she wishes to see in the world.

Anaiya is from Columbia.

Bonus Info: I am a strong believer that each person has more of an ability to change the world than they realize. Mahatma Gandhi has a famous quote that says, “Be the change that you wish to see in the world.” It is a quote that I live by and has really shaped who I am as a person and how I interact with others.

Anaiya is a double major.
