It didn’t take long for Erin Martin to decide that Coastal Carolina University was for her. The moment she stepped on campus, Erin says she “fell in love.” Four years later, that love is stronger than ever – so much so that she doesn’t want to leave when she graduates this December.

Not wanting to leave has everything to do with her love for CCU and nothing to do with not being prepared for the next step. During her undergraduate career, Erin has delved deep into her political science studies, developing an interest in immigration and international law. An aspiring lawyer, she would like to focus in those areas and work directly with refugees.

“That’s become my passion since I have been at Coastal and the teachers have helped me foster it,” Erin explains, specifically expressing her desire to help those who come into the United States from other countries.

Erin has gained leadership skills and conviction while at CCU, traits that will help her succeed in a law career. If not for leaving New Jersey and taking a chance far from home at Coastal, she doesn’t know where she would be.

“Coastal has made me grow as a person,” Erin says. “My confidence has gone up and I have become a leader. I don’t think I would be in the same position at any other school.”

Although her love for CCU was evident from the start, it has since blossomed to encompass the area community.  No matter where law school or a career might take her, Erin will always be welcome in this special place we call #TEALnation.

Erin is an intern at a local law office in Conway.
