I chose Coastal Carolina University originally for the marine science program, but I switched to psychology and stayed. Why? Coastal is a unique University, with a beautiful campus, great professors, and an amazing student body and events for pretty much anything one may think of. This University has an obsession for the color teal and shows its support around every corner of campus.
My experience so far has been good overall and has had plenty of funny moments. Some of the most memorable include attempting to find parking all night as a freshman, presenting statements in Mandarin during class, and even being a resident adviser and having fun throughout training. I personally am glad I stuck with coastal, despite the seemingly annual hurricanes.
Favorite professor: Andrew Terranova, Ph.D.
Favorite class: Chinese 110/120 (Year Long class)
Campus Involvement (organizations, activities, etc.): Resident adviser in Piedmont 1035
Favorite trait of #CCU: The atmosphere of Coastal Carolina
Favorite Netflix series: Black Mirror
Favorite charitable cause: Project AWARE
Item you would bring to a deserted island: SAT Phone
Dream job: Therapist or traveling animal psychologist
Favorite Southern food: Mashed potatoes with salt and butter
Motivating factor in life: To pay back my family for all that they have sacrificed and given to me over the time I have been on the planet.
Favorite quote: "The mind is like an iceberg, it floats with one-seventh of its bulk above water." Sigmund Freud
Bonus Info: I took Mandarin for a full year and I have a basic understanding of the language. I love scuba diving and have a passion for marine life of all kinds. I have plenty of advice for both current freshman and incoming freshman. If you see me on campus, come say hello!
