When Jenna Whittington-Pelant visited CCU for the first time, she was mesmerized by the “light and beauty” that covered campus on that particular day. Already knowledgeable about the advantageous location and the small class sizes, the special scene from her campus tour helped Jenna decide that Coastal was for her.

A junior digital culture and design student, Jenna grew up in Pasadena, Md. She enjoyed living in a place that had a cozy feel but was surrounded by major destinations. Although she still considers Pasadena her home, the Coastal community has earned a place in her heart as well.

“It just feels like a second home to me,” Jenna says about #TEALnation. “Just the opportunities to be involved on campus and the people that you meet – it just feels like a family here.”

Jenna has taken advantage of those opportunities. She was a 2018 orientation leader and refers to the experience as the best summer of her life. The ability to have an impact, even when she didn’t know she was having an impact, is what delighted Jenna the most about her job. She also is a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma and a University Housing desk assistant. Although Coastal provided the opportunities, it was Jenna who took the initiative to pursue them.

“I am a go-getter,” Jenna explains. “If I really want something I believe I can get it. It is just a matter of how much you want it and what you are willing to do to get it.”

Jenna has not made up her mind on what she will do after she graduates from CCU but don’t let that worry you. She is still just a junior and is evaluating her options before she makes a final decision. We hope Jenna continues to enjoy her Coastal experience and never stops having a #CCUPositiveImpact on those around her.
