Jordan Porchea says he enjoys hitting the gym to test out his own strength. However, one can also tell that Jordan takes pride in becoming involved and setting lofty goals to test his own ambition. A junior from Hemingway, S.C., the exercise and sport science student has plans to become a physical therapy doctor.

“I see myself working in a rehabilitation center–Dr. Porchea, hopefully–just helping people get back to their daily lives and sport-related activities,” Jordan explains, dropping the future title he hopes to one day have.

Attracted to CCU because of small class sizes and a beautiful campus, Jordan discovered another redeeming quality after he enrolled: calmness. Pleasantly surprised by the tranquility of his surroundings and the 24/7 operating schedule of the Kimbel Library, Jordan appreciates that his University is a productive place to study and have peace of mind.

Not that Jordan doesn’t embrace the opportunities to make some noise. A natural leader, he is the president of the Exercise Science Club and a member of other organizations such as African American Initiative for Males and Doctors of Coastal. He is also a brother of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

“I feel like I have a go-get-it mentality,” Jordan says. “I try to do everything I can to go to the next level and be the best person I can be.”

As Jordan concludes the academic year and rejoins us for his senior year in Fall 2019, we hope he continues to bring that attitude to campus each day. We believe Jordan will continue to test his own strength and his own ambition, resulting in a young man who will not be satisfied until he reaches his goals.

Jordan is studying exercise and sport science.
