Kyle Cannon
Name: Kyle Cannon
Hometown: Freehold, N.J.
Year in School: Senior
Major: Intelligence and National Security
Kyle Cannon wasn’t sold on attending college. However, he listened carefully to his parents when they suggested that he consider it. Kyle ended up taking the advice of his mom and dad, remarking that he “wouldn’t have changed this experience for the world.”
A senior from Bruce Springsteen’s hometown of Freehold, N.J., the student who initially didn’t have higher education in his future plans chose his college carefully. Attracted to the size of Coastal, he became a Chanticleer.
“I wanted to go to a smaller school,” Kyle explains. “One that wasn’t too small or too big.”
With a love for his country and a family tradition of service in the armed forces, Kyle knew he wanted to prepare for a military career while at Coastal. He became part of the CCU ROTC program and joined the South Carolina Army National Guard. When he graduates this academic year, Kyle will be commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Army.
It takes a dedicated individual to take on a full time academic load with a part time job, ROTC and Army National Guard responsibilities, and Greek Life involvement. But this intelligence and national security major proved it can be done. We thank Kyle for his service to our country and wish him well as he transitions into his role as an officer.
