Lily Belcher is nearing the finish line. The senior intelligence and national security student from Patchogue, N.Y., will graduate this Friday. As she looks back on her time at Coastal, one thing stands out: it went by way too fast.

“It feels like yesterday I was moving into the first year dorms,” Lily reflects, adding that new students should cherish each day they spend on campus.

Over the past four years, a couple highlights come to mind for Lily. The first one is her involvement with Alpha Xi Delta. She considers joining her sorority her favorite moment at CCU, saying that it provided her with a special college experience. The other big highlight is the academic path she followed. Lily studied intelligence and national security, noting that it is a new and growing program but that it is “taught by some of the best professors here at Coastal.”

A positive individual who loves to make people smile, Lily has enjoyed meeting new friends and thriving as an individual. After she graduates this week, she hopes to find work in Washington D.C. Evidenced by her smooth transition to Coastal Carolina from New York, we think she will adjust fine in our nation’s capital.

“Coastal has made me independent and I am so thankful for that,” Lily says.

Enjoy your moment on Friday, Lily. Thanks for choosing Coastal and remember that you will forever be a Chanticleer!

Lily is a senior.
