In high school, Rachael Larsen did not involve herself with extracurricular activities. In fact, she will admit that it wasn’t due to lack of time or shyness; she just had no desire to. However, when she arrived at Coastal, she decided to branch out a bit.
By “a bit” we really mean a lot. Rachael joined various groups from honor societies to the cheerleading club to Colleges Against Cancer. She is currently a building manager at the Lib Jackson Student Union and also served a stint as a campus tour guide. A few years removed from high school, Rachael states that becoming involved at Coastal has had an overwhelmingly positive impact on her.
Despite the positive impact, don’t think becoming involved has defined her. Long before stepping foot on campus, Rachael was already an eclectic individual with various interests. Intrigued by the arts, Pinterest crafts and the outdoors, she is an innovative person with various hobbies.
However, Rachael has one major passion that most people wouldn’t guess right off the bat. This particular passion has landed her an internship in New York City and shaped her outlook for the future. In a year or so, Rachael envisions herself working in the fragrance industry.
Enthralled by the ability of a fragrance to “take you back to your childhood,” Rachael enjoys the fact that the industry plays a big role in “taking you back to a certain memory.” With that said, there is one scent Rachael already knows based on her time at Coastal and in New York City: Success.
And believe us, that sweet fragrance will only become stronger as Rachael continues to chase her dream.

How did you hear about Coastal?: I heard about Coastal from a friend of mine.
Why did you come to Coastal?: I wanted to go south and was enticed by the beach and atmosphere.

Favorite class: French 115
Favorite aspect of Coastal?: It is a beautiful campus filled with friendly people.
Clubs/Intramurals/other extracurricular activities involved in?: National Society of Leadership and Success, Club Cheerleading, Advocacy and Awareness Lead for Colleges Against Cancer Club
Do you work anywhere currently (either on or off campus)?: I am the social media and marketing manager for Feel the Teal/Service Training and Development.I also serve as a building manager for the Lib Jackson Student Union. Previously, I was a campus tour guide (Teal Trailblazer)
Plans after graduation?: I want to move back up north and work with fragrance.
What are your hobbies?: Making crafts from Pinterest, hiking/being outside, cheerleading, Googling pictures of Snoop Dogg in different costumes.
Do you have any hidden talents?: I can cook minute rice in 50 seconds
Bonus Info: I am in the Degree in Three program.
Also, this past summer I interned in New York City with MANE, a fine fragrance developing company. I hope to work with the marketing or evaluation team of a fragrance house upon graduating in May.
