Tyler Neeves was destined to be a Chanticleer. Not only is he from Myrtle Beach but both of his parents attended Coastal Carolina back when it was still a college. Already passionate about CCU before he even arrived on campus as a student, Tyler was definitely the type of individual we wanted at our institution.

An extremely intelligent young man, Tyler is studying both biochemistry and exercise and sport science. His favorite course at CCU has been Cardio and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, a logical choice since he wants to enter cardiology one day. With plans for a big career, Tyler is making sure to establish connections at every turn.

“It’s a networking experience,” Tyler explains when describing CCU. “There are so many different opportunities.”

As you can tell from Tyler’s own words, he isn’t spending all his time hitting the books. He balances his challenging academic path with extracurricular activities. He is involved with his church and plays a big gameday experience role for Chanticleer Athletics. He also works at a local seafood restaurant and is part of a softball league.

“The more you are involved, the more fun it is,” Tyler says about his packed schedule.

Once he graduates in May, Tyler plans to take the MCAT and attend the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). Even though he will just be a couple hours away, it will be tough to see this local student move from the area. However, the great benefit he will be to society after he graduates from MUSC will far outweigh any disappointment of him not being in the Grand Strand. Tyler, you have given this University much more than most people will ever know and we appreciate you.

Tyler is a senior.
