Victoria Gluck didn’t stumble upon Coastal Carolina University. She knew marine science was her calling so it didn’t take long before CCU was the top college on her list. Victoria made the lengthy move from New Jersey and once on campus dove headfirst into her academic program.

“I was able to go on a sea turtle inventory,” Victoria explains about her favorite moment at CCU so far. “We were able to help a hatchling into the ocean.”

Just a sophomore, numerous other special moments are bound to follow for Victoria, and not just in the marine science program. A cheerleader most of her life, she joined the CCU Club Cheer team, allowing her to do something she loves while staying active. She also spends time at the Williams-Brice Pool working as a lifeguard.

Still, the passion that drove her to CCU reigns supreme. Victoria’s good standing in the marine science program is already paying dividends for her. When the spring semester ends, she will embark on an exciting opportunity.

“I have been accepted into the Sea Turtle and Aquatic Biology Internship program at Clearwater Marine Aquarium,” Victoria says. “So I will be spending my summer down there (Clearwater, Fla.) playing with the sea turtles and Winter the Dolphin.”

Her internship coupled with her CCU education will prepare Victoria for a career rescuing, rehabilitating and releasing aquatic animals into their habitats. With a plan in full swing and with Victoria executing it every step of the way, you can’t help but admire her as she chases her dream.
