Kronos Quartet to perform in CCU's Wheelwright Auditorium on Wednesday, Nov. 3, at 7:30 p.m.

The globally-acclaimed San Francisco-based Kronos Quartet will perform in Coastal Carolina University’s Wheelwright Auditorium on Wednesday, Nov. 3, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 with discounts available*. This premium cultural arts event is presented by CCU’s Department of Music.

Kronos Quartet, featuring David Harrington and John Sherba on violin, Hank Dutt on viola, and Sunny Yang on cello, takes a creative, exploratory approach to the classical genre, continually reimagining and updating the string quartet experience. Kronos has been performing with a rotating membership of musicians since 1973.

Easton Selby, associate dean of the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts, said the experience promises to be moving and memorable.

“The group of musicians continues to push the definition of what it means to be a string quartet in a contemporary society,” said Selby. “They have scored soundtracks for filmmaker Darren Aronofsky; they have collaborated with composers, writers, and performers in more than 1,000 commissioned works; and they’ve even been featured on Sesame Street. As a quartet, they are prolific. We are very fortunate to have them featured as a Cultural Arts premium event on Coastal Carolina University’s campus.”

Tickets may purchased via phone at 843-349-ARTS, online, or stop by the Wheelwright Box Office, 108 Spadoni Park Circle, on CCU’s campus.

*General admission: $25; senior citizens, OLLI members, CCU faculty/staff and alumni, and teens: $20; CCU and HGTC students: $3; children 10 and under: free.
