Steven Taylor, an academic advisor in the E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration at Coastal Carolina University, has been awarded the Mid-South Region 3 Excellence in Advising/Advisor Primary Role Certificate of Merit from the National Academic Advising Association: The Global Community for Academic Advising (NACADA). NACADA annually recognizes individuals who demonstrate qualities associated with the outstanding academic advising of students.

Taylor received extreme praise from his biannual academic advising experience survey, with many students calling him a role model, enthusiastic, dedicated, a blessing in disguise, and an outstanding person overall.

“To be recognized by NACADA Region 3 for my commitment to academic advising, degree completion, and student success is truly an honor,” said Taylor. “I am fortunate to be in a position that allows me to equip students with the necessary tools to navigate college. I do my best to provide students with the resources to ‘move the needle’ beyond just registering for classes and into the holistic student experience. To assist students with pursuing their dreams of earning their degrees and learning about their career interests is a wonderful experience. I am thankful and humbled to make such an impact as an academic advisor.”

Taylor received his award in February at the NACADA’s Region 3 Conference in Knoxville, Tenn.

NACADA is the leading association globally for the advancement of student success through excellence in higher education academic advising.
