Around 2,700 incoming new and transfer students attended the New Student Convocation at Coastal Carolina University on Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2022, the evening before the start of classes. Preliminary numbers show that this is the largest freshman class in University history, topping last year’s record of 2,519.

Students were welcomed to the University and learned about some of the traditions at CCU. They even participated in the beginning of a new tradition, as they entered the event through a gauntlet formed by faculty and staff. They will progress through another gauntlet, made up of faculty from their respective colleges, at the end of their graduation ceremonies.
