Now in its third year, Coastal Carolina University’s Sociology 440 course taught by assistant professor of sociology Jennifer Schlosser, Ph.D., is finally face-to-face. Commonly known as The Jail Experience, the class meets weekly at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center in Conway. The class consists of CCU students as well as incarcerated individuals who are participating in the center's Jail Diversion and Reentry program. The collaboration allows students to connect with each other and gain new perspectives.
