CCU to host political party polarization panel discussion on March 23

The Coastal Carolina University Department of Political Science will host a panel discussion titled, “Fighting Against Major Party Polarization: Can a Different Approach Improve American Politics?” on Thursday, March 23, at 4:30 p.m. in Lib Jackson Student Union A110. The event is free and open to the public.

The panelists include:

• Clint Eisenhauer, a former businessman who is focused on the Forward Party organization and voting reform.

• Mia S. McLeod, who serves S.C. State Senate District 22 as an independent.

• James H. Rex, Ph.D., former education dean at CCU and former S.C. State Superintendent of Education. He is the national chair emeritus of the Alliance Party.

• Ryan Thompson, a 2022 graduate of the College of Charleston, who ran as the Democratic Party and Alliance Party candidate for the S.C. State House District 106.

• Nancy Williams, president of the League of Women Voters of South Carolina.
