OLLI@Coastal offering learning and travel opportunities this summer
The six-week session will begin with a Summer Kickoff, a free brunch with enriching activities. Workshops throughout the summer include jewelry making with Susan Hayes-Hatcher, a leader of the Waccamaw Indian People; meteorology with Gregory Fishel, the former chief meteorologist at WRAL-TV; and Afro-Latin dance with CCU alumna Adalia Ellis.
Five excursions highlight the summer: the Rice Museum in Georgetown with Natalie Daise, an artist known for her role in the Daytime Emmy-nominated series Gullah Gullah Island; Mepkin Abbey, a community of Roman Catholic monks cultivating mushrooms in Moncks Corner; the S.C. Ports Authority in Mount Pleasant; bottom fishing around sunset with the Little River Fishing Fleet; and Ripley’s Aquarium to learn more about its work to care for rescued animals.
