Lexi's Video

When Lexi Moore was 4 years old, she started to dance. It didn’t take long for those around her to realize she had a true talent. By the time she got to high school, Lexi was dancing competitively. Now, almost two decades since she first started to pursue her love, the communication major from Mint Hill, N.C., is still dancing.

A member of the CCU dance team, her time performing at games has reinforced a career direction she hopes to take. Having grown up around sports and the unique atmosphere it builds, Lexi wants to transition from performing at athletic contests to covering them.

“I am surrounded by sports all the time and every time I am on the sidelines I just feel like I belong there,” Lexi says.

If Lexi’s vision works out, she will one day be a college football sideline reporter. She is taking the right steps academically to realize her dream. In addition to studying communication, Lexi is minoring in journalism. She looks up to Erin Andrews and hopes to emulate her confidence and grace. But Andrews isn’t the only one she holds in high esteem.

“Coastal has definitely left me with a lot of friends and faculty members I know I can turn to,” explains Lexi. “I have met a lot of people I know I am going to be friends with for a lifetime.”

Hoping to stay true to her energetic personality, Lexi will continue to give everything she has to her academics, her sorority and her dance team. Although committed to do what it takes to reach her dream, she won’t stop having fun.

“I am always trying to make people laugh or smile,” Lexi states. “And I am always dancing and having a good time.”

Don’t stop, Lexi! We will watch for you on the sidelines.

Q&A with Lexi

How did you hear about Coastal?: I heard about Coastal when I was a junior in high school. I grew up going to the beach around the Myrtle area and was excited to hear that there was a university here.

Why did you come to Coastal?: I came to Coastal because I love the beach and I love all of the opportunities the school has to offer.

Favorite professor: My favorite professor is Sharon Tutrone. She has pushed me to become a better student and the reason I chose Journalism as my minor. I have taken her four years in a row!

Favorite class: Broadcast Journalism and Gender in Sport. I can’t choose one!

Favorite aspect of Coastal?: I love the family feeling this campus has. Everyone I have met has given me that home away from home feeling. There is always a student or faculty member I can go to for any advice and that helps a lot, especially being an out of state student.

Favorite aspect of living in the Conway/Myrtle Beach area?:  I love the weather! It is so nice that the coast line is just 10 minutes away.

Clubs/Intramurals/other extracurricular activities involved in?: I am on the Coastal Carolina dance team, which I love! I am a sister in Alpha Delta Pi and I am a member of the Women in Sport Management Club.

Do you work anywhere currently (either on or off campus)?: This past summer I worked on the beach at Ocean Watersports. I worked in a bathing suit all day long so it was really nice!

Plans after graduation?: I plan on becoming a sideline reporter for college football. I would love to work for ESPN!

What are your hobbies?: I love dancing, working out, hanging out with my family and friends, and I love watching Ellen, she’s hilarious.

Do you have any hidden talents?: I can walk on the balls on my feet. I have hyper extended joints in my feet so I can basically walk on my toes!

Bonus Info: When I was in high school, I was nominated as best actress for my school’s musical. I got to perform in front of 5,000 people in a theater in downtown Charlotte.
