Keys to a Successful Commencement Day
Aug. 21, 2019 | Fall 2019 Commencement
Coastal Carolina University is preparing for the Fall 2019 Commencement ceremonies, which will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2019, at 2 and 6 p.m. The event will bring approximately 6,000 people to campus, so guests are encouraged to plan their visit early. Here are a few key points for graduates, families, and guests to help ensure a successful commencement day!
Know which ceremony to attend
The Fall 2019 Commencement ceremonies will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2019, at 2 and 6 p.m, inside the HTC Student Recreation and Convocation Center.
Degree candidates from the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts, the E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration, and the HTC Honors College and Center for Interdisciplinary Studies will be honored at the 2 p.m. ceremony.

Plan/Book your December stay
Arrange accommodations well in advance. You can check out a list of local accommodations here ». According to The Weather Channel, the average high temperature in Conway, SC in December is 61 degrees, while the average low is 37 degrees. Make sure to pack appropriately for your ceremony and stay!
Everything you need to know about tickets
Tickets will be available to claim on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2019, at 9 a.m. Directions on how to claim tickets can be found here ». Only the graduate is capable of claiming tickets. Tickets should be distributed to guests before arriving at the HTC Center on commencement day.
Arrange a place to meet after the ceremony
Graduates aren’t allowed to bring purses, bags, or any personal items with them, so a designated meeting location should be set before the ceremony begins to ensure a stress-free departure. Please note that graduates will exit from the same location they enter (Gate 3).
Graduates – Know where to go
The graduate line up is at Gate 3. If you’re not familiar with the Gate 3 location, it is the entrance closest to the new residence halls (Teal Hall, Pat Singleton-Young Hall, Chanticleer Hall, and Tradition Hall). Graduates should arrive dressed in their regalia, no later than one hour prior to their ceremony.
Shuttles and Shuttle Zones
Campus traffic will be heavy and we urge guests to use the complimentary shuttle service. There are two general parking shuttle zones, Teal and Bronze. It is important to remember where you have parked your vehicle, as shuttles will only go to their designated zones. There will be signage throughout general parking areas and shuttles will have their designated zone clearly displayed on their screens to help ease the parking and shuttle process.
Guests - Be prepared for bag checks
Guests’ entrances into the HTC Center will be at Gate 1 and 2, and both entrances will have public safety officers conducting bag checks. All bags will be subject to search. To ensure a quick and easy search refrain from bringing the following items: alcohol; drugs; flags, signs or banners larger than 12” x 18”; outside food or beverages; mace or pepper spray; glitter or confetti; laser or pointer lights; balloons or any type of inflatables; noisemakers; or masks of any kind.
