Regalia and More
Are you ready to look like a #CCUGRAD? Be sure to order your regalia online (cap, gowns, tassels, and hoods) by Sunday, July 18, 2021, to receive it in the mail before the commencement ceremony. After July 18, regalia must be purchased in the Chanticleer Bookstore. All sizes are not guaranteed to be in stock at the bookstore.
Doctoral regalia is provided by Oak Hall and can be purchased or rented. Please email email@example.com for more information.
Master's regalia is available to purchase online through Oak Hall. Master's regalia package (cap, gown, hood, and tassel) costs $130.98 plus tax (includes shipping and handling).
Students will not be permitted to wear undergraduate gowns, as master's gowns have additional material at the base of the sleeve. Students may decorate their mortarboard so long as it is not distracting to the ceremony or students around them.
Bachelor's regalia is available to purchase online through Oak Hall. Bachelor's regalia package (cap, gown, and tassel) costs $80.98 plus tax (includes shipping and handling).
Bachelor degree candidates are permitted to wear University approved stoles and cords to signify academic honors. Students may decorate their mortarboard as long as it is not distracting to the ceremony or students around them.
Notes on Protocol
Caps should be worn at all times during the ceremony, except during the benediction and the national anthem, when gentlemen should remove their caps. The tassel is worn over the right temple. When all degrees have been conferred, the president will make an announcement; candidates may then move their tassel over to the left side to signify their status as a graduate.
The honor stole (Latin academic honors and/or CCU program recognition) is a white satin stole that bears the University seal on one side and your Latin academic honors and/or program recognition(s) in script on the other side. Both the seal and script are custom embroidered. To be eligible to wear an academic honor stole for graduation you must have earned a minimum 3.50 GPA, have completed at least 60 hours of college coursework at CCU, and be graduating with a Bachelor's degree (Graduate students are not eligible for Latin Academic Honors). Latin academic honors: summa cum laude: GPA of 4.0; magna cum laude: GPA of 3.75 - 3.999; and cum laude: GPA of 3.5 - 3.749. Please note: Latin academic honors that are recognized at commencement ceremonies are based upon the student's cumulative grade point average available at the beginning of the semester of graduation. Actual graduation with honors is calculated after the final semester's grades have been received and certified and will be indicated on the diploma and official transcript.
Degree candidates who are members of the following programs may also be eligible to receive an honor stole: Honors Program (HTC Honors College Graduate), Jackson Scholar, Teaching Fellow, Wall Fellow, or Swain Scholar.
All students eligible to wear an honor stole at commencement will receive an email from the Office of the Registrar notifying them of eligibility along with instructions on how to purchase a stole. Honor stoles must be purchased by Thursday, July 8, 2021, to avoid paying a late fee. Orders placed between July 9-23 will have a late fee applied.
Veteran or Service Member Stole and Recognition in the Program
Students who are veterans or service members of the U.S. Military may have their branch of service (Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, or Coast Guard) noted in the program. These categories may include veteran, active duty, retired, National Guard, or Reserve. Veteran and service member stoles are also available through the Office of Veteran Services. Please contact Randy Burk in the Office of Veteran Services at 843-349-4124 or firstname.lastname@example.org by June 25, 2021.
