Regalia and More
Please note: The official Coastal Carolina University regalia from Oak Hall is required to participate in commencement. Former CCU regalia (black with teal sleeves and large teal CCU logo one side) may not be worn. Deadline to order regalia online is Sunday, July 19, 2020.
Bachelor's regalia is available to purchase online through Oak Hall. Bachelor's regalia package (cap, gown, and tassel) costs $70.95 plus tax (includes shipping and handling).
Bachelor degree candidates are permitted to wear University approved stoles and cords to signify academic honors. Students may decorate their mortarboard as long as it is not distracting to the ceremony or students around them.
Master's regalia is available to purchase online through Oak Hall. Master's regalia package (cap, gown, hood, and tassel) costs $115.95 plus tax (includes shipping and handling).
Students will not be permitted to wear undergraduate gowns, as master's gowns have additional material at the base of the sleeve. Students may decorate their mortarboard so long as it is not distracting to the ceremony or students around them.
Notes on Protocol
Caps should be worn at all times, except during the benediction and the national anthem, when gentlemen should remove their caps. The tassel is worn over the right temple. When all degrees have been conferred, the president will make an announcement; graduates may then move their tassel over to the left side.
The academic honor stole is a white satin stole that bears the University seal on one side and your Latin academic honors or program recognitions in script on the other side. Both the seal and script are custom embroidered. To be eligible to wear an academic honor stole for graduation you must have earned a minimum 3.50 GPA, have completed at least 60 hours of college coursework at CCU and be graduating with a Bachelor's degree (Graduate students are not eligible for Latin Academic Honors). Graduate candidates who are members of the following programs may also be eligible to receive an honor stole: Honors Program, Jackson Scholar, Teaching Fellow, Wall Fellow, or Swain Scholar.
All students who meet the minimum GPA requirement, and the 60-hour residency requirement will receive an email from the ODK faculty advisor, firstname.lastname@example.org, notifying them of eligibility. If you did not receive this email and believe that you might be eligible, please contact Stacy Wyeth (email@example.com) in the Registrar's Office.
Stoles with one script are $45. Each additional script is an additional $5.
Honor stoles will be available to pick-up in Kearns Hall room 213-A during the week of commencement. Please bring a photo ID with you to pick-up your stole.
