Red Hat Academy Curriculum
The department has partnered with Red Hat to provide a specialized Linux curriculum. Courses offered in the Red Hat Academy will be taught only by faculty members with specialized qualifications. Two courses will be offered beginning fall of 2020:
- CSCI 216 - Linux Fundamentals I
This course provides students with a fundamental understanding of how to use a Linux operating system. Topics include accessing the command line, file manipulation, managing users and groups, file system permissions, controlling services, managing processes, configuring networking and using package managers.
- CSCI 316 - Linux Fundamentals II
A continuation of Linux Fundamentals I. Topics covered include file systems, disk partitioning, accessing network storage, SELinux, scheduled tasks, firewalls and troubleshooting.
