The Art of Laura Tanner

Monday, July 29 – Friday, Aug. 30

Artist Laura Tanner explores the consequences of colonialism. Through pattern, printed textiles and turn of the century advertisements, she appropriate images that reflect periods of social and/ or political turmoil. She recalls historical conflicts and construct new narratives that record contemporary accounts of racial and gender injustice. With each drawing, she strives to create a continuous narrative that chronicles the Western struggle with diversity in the face of white fragility.
