In a frothy tale of thespians and thugs, Bullets over Broadway: The Musical asks, how seriously do you take your art? Would you kill for it? Literally? The 1920s come roaring to life in this musical adaptation of Academy Award-winner Woody Allen’s madcap film. Set amid tap-dancing gangsters and high-stepping chorines with a pretentious playwright, an aging leading lady, a ditsy leading man, a desperate producer, a dimwitted chorus girl and her gangster sugar daddy, Bullets over Broadway is a love letter to the Golden Age of Broadway, loaded with big laughs, colorful characters and songs that made the ’20s roar. Nominated for six Tony Awards with standards including “Let’s Misbehave,” “’Tain’t Nobody’s Biz-ness If I Do” and “There’s a New Day Comin’!” this musical is sure to dazzle. Adam Pelty, assistant professor of theatre, directs and choreographs the production.
