As the University enrollment has grown to more than 10,000 students, so has the number of staff in Information Technology Services who support CCU's students, faculty and staff. Following are some profiles of the newest ITS team members:
IT Services Specialist
Education: Bachelor of Arts in mass communications, Iona College
Work experience(s): IT services with public school system in Danvers, Mass.
Hometown: Westwood, Mass.
Started at CCU: Oct. 1, 2018
Describe your role in ITS: Assist people with various technology issues.
Best thing about your job: The people and being able to learn new things every day.
Why Coastal? I wanted to continue in the education field and be closer to family plus CCU is near the beach.
What inspires you? Learning new skills.
Something about you that most people don’t know: I enjoy riding my bike on the weekends.
Ellucian Portal/SharePoint Administrator
Education/experience: Studied computer science at Corning Community College, web developer, SharePoint administrator, systems analyst, applications administrator, server backup administrator, helpdesk, escalation manager
Hometown: Norfolk, Va.
Start date at CCU: Oct. 16, 2018
Describe your role in ITS: I oversee the Ellucian Portal, which will serve as an intranet or a one-stop shop for students, faculty and staff.
Best thing about your job: Developing tools to help make the college more successful, working in an environment that I truly love which makes every day not feel like work.
Why Coastal? I visited here on vacation and loved the campus and atmosphere, also my wife and I wanted to move out of the north…it’s just too cold.
What inspires you? My wife, my brother, my mother.
Something about you that most people don’t know: I served in Operation Northern Watch while in the Air Force.
WILLIAM "JUSTIN" OLD
Classroom Technology Integration Specialist
Education/experience: Worked at Florence Darlington Tech, graduated with an degree in network system management
Hometown: Conway, S.C.
Start date at CCU: Nov. 19, 2018
Describe your role in ITS: Integrating, maintaining and upgrading the technology in the classrooms
Best thing about your job: The chance to learn new technology
Why Coastal? I always hear people talking about the college, and it was always good things. I wanted to be able to work at a place that people acted more like a family than just as coworkers.
What inspires you? The chance to see what the future can offer. I love testing and learning about all new technology and how it can affect change.
