The Process of Paying

CCU students can choose to participate in one of three different education abroad program types. Each program type has a different payment process.

Faculty-led Programs

Students participating in a CCU faculty-led program are responsible for paying CCU tuition and fees, the program fee (which includes CCU’s international insurance coverage at $1.80 per day) and the non-refundable application fee ($30) through their student account. Students who are committed to participating in a CCU faculty-led program will be billed on the following timeline:

  • In the term before going abroad: a non-refundable deposit ($300) and the $30 application fee
  • In the term they are abroad: CCU tuition and fees for the course(s) they are taking abroad and the remaining CCU program fees

The program fee and application fee will be billed to the student's CCU account. Tuition and fees are applied to the student's account when the student has enrolled in the course(s) and billing for that term is open. Payment is made to the account as if the student is on campus.

Exchange Partner Programs

Students are responsible for paying CCU tuition and fees, CCU’s international insurance coverage (at $1.80 per day) and the non-refundable application fee ($175) through their CCU account. Students who are committed to participating in an exchange partner program will be billed on the following timeline:

  • In the term before going abroad: a non-refundable deposit ($500) and the $175 application fee
  • In the term they are abroad: CCU tuition and fees for the course(s) they are taking abroad and the fee for CCU’s international insurance ($1.80 per day)
  • NOTE: Out-of-pocket expenses include exchange partner program fees such as meals and/or accommodations. Depending on the student's program, these out-of-pocket expenses will be paid directly to the host institution per the host institution's instructions.

Any financial aid or scholarships awarded to students studying abroad will be dispersed 10 days before the start the CCU term and applied to tuition FIRST. Financial Aid and Scholarships staff can provide additional information and should be contacted directly with related questions.

The application fee and insurance fee will be billed to the student's CCU account. Tuition and fees are applied to the student's account when the student has enrolled and billing for that term is open. Payment is made to the account as if the student is on campus.

Third-party Provider Programs

Students are responsible for paying the third-party provider directly UNLESS special arrangements are agreed upon in advance between the student, the Center for Global Engagement and the third-party provider. For example, if a student wishes to pay all costs associated with their education abroad program directly to CCU instead of the third-party provider for the purpose of accessing federal financial aid, then the Center for Global Engagement can investigate the possibility on the student's behalf.

Third-party provider program fees may include tuition, excursions, visa assistance, accommodations, meals and additional in-country support services. Accepted methods of payment (e.g., credit card, check, money transfer, etc.) will depend on the third-party provider. Questions about costs and payment should be directed to the third-party program provider.

Any financial aid or scholarships awarded to students studying abroad will be dispersed 10 days before the start the CCU term and applied to tuition FIRST. Financial Aid and Scholarships staff can provide additional information and should be contacted directly with related questions.

Students who are committed to participating in a third-party provider program will be billed on the following timeline:

  • In the term before going abroad: the $175 application fee
  • In the term they are abroad: the fee for CCU’s international insurance ($1.80 per day)

The application fee and insurance fee will be billed to the student's CCU account. Payment is made to the account as if the student is on campus. Payment for the program costs are billed by and paid to the third-party program provider directly UNLESS special arrangements are agreed upon in advance (see above).
